“They are small things, but they make a big difference.”

It's Motor Skills Week. Movement is essential for young children to discover the world: grasping, feeling, manipulating, and making connections. Free movement broadens their perspective, increases contact, and stimulates language development. Moreover, good motor skills form the foundation for the future.

That's why 2Samen offers a training course for pedagogical professionals on how to best support babies in their motor development. The training is led by physiotherapists from B&B KidsCare.

Linda, Educational Professional at 2Zonnetjes, participated and says: “It was a very interesting training. I learned how important it is to place and pick up babies correctly. Did you know that children who can't sit yet should only be in a high chair for a maximum of one hour? So, let them lie down! That's something that really stuck with me.”

Linda works with babies daily and immediately applies the tips in the group. "They're small things, but they make a big difference. You encourage children to move more and help prevent things like a preferred posture. If I'd known this beforehand, I could have helped my own son, who was a bit of a bottom scooter, better."

"As a pedagogical professional, this is incredibly helpful. You really learn to observe babies' movements more clearly. So many questions came up that it could have gone on a bit longer. We even discussed organizing a parent-teacher conference on this topic at our location!"

You really learn to look better at how babies move.
