2024 annual report
A beautiful time

We want all children to have a great time, now and in the future! We have also committed ourselves to this in 2024. We ensure that we really see all children, so that they develop optimally and have an eye for their future. We do this through an unconditional commitment to equal opportunities and the sustainability of our organization.

A beautiful time

In 2024, we refreshed our corporate identity and replaced our old and trusted pay-off 'At home in childcare' with 'A beautiful time'.

Because offering a good time has been our profession for 80 years! It is our promise to make childcare a valuable pastime for children and it reflects our drive and passion to pass on the world to future generations in a good way. A good time: then, now and later!

For children

Already 80 years A wonderful time!
Providing a great time translates especially into everything we do for the children! In 2024, those activities were extra festive, because our organization existed for 80 years.

Whole 2Together bakes

A whole week of baking and partying took place during 'Heel 2Samen bakt' at our locations. In honor of our 80th anniversary, we made delicious and healthy treats with the children.

2Together camps

At 2Samen we like to go the extra mile. For years we have been organizing a really cool summer camp with an overnight stay in tents. But we do more: we offer camp days during all school holidays! And many children and parents make grateful use of that!

Reading for everyone
2Samen has now placed all kinds of mini libraries in the neighborhoods. We take this initiative to promote reading (aloud) and reading pleasure for children and everyone in the neighborhood.

Sustainable garlands

A party needs streamers. 210 bunting for our locations were handmade at day care De Hooge Hoed of 's Heeren Loo in Westland. The ladies with a mild intellectual disability completed a challenging task to make this eco-friendly and more fire-resistant decoration.

More collaboration
In 2024, our activities department KICKS is increasingly successful in connecting with organizations and initiatives in the city and neighborhood that we include in our BSO offer. For example, we increasingly work together with community centers, theaters, museums and sports clubs.

More activities for babies and toddlers

Where our KICKS department initially focused solely on a challenging and development-oriented range of activities at the BSO, we have also expanded the activities for babies and toddlers. Think of music and theatre for babies. And football, skateboarding and reading workshops for toddlers. In Preschool Education, children are introduced to music, drama, art and dance, among other things.

500 times free access to the Holiday Park

The Holiday Park The Hague is a summer event in the Zuiderpark. In 2024 we supported the Holiday Park by, among other things, purchasing 500 tickets that we gave away for free in the neighborhoods around the Zuiderpark. We also provided a performance at the festival: deliberately without language, so that it is suitable for everyone, regardless of the language you speak at home.

Working with talent

It is not without reason that 'We see you' is the starting point of our pedagogical policy. A child is who it is, and is given the space to do so with us. Respect for everyone's individuality is central to everything we do. We have many practical examples of this. We share one:

Riley is now in high school and still goes to camp with us. As a leader, that is. As a younger child, his behavior was not always easy. At school, things were not going well. At 2Samen, things were going well.

Pedagogical Employee Kitty: “You get to know children differently in childcare. Here at camp, just like Riley did back then, we have children who have to leave school and are always getting a dressing down. He knows exactly what those kids need! Riley can pull an entire group down and that's what often happened at school. But it can also be the other way around: then he pulls the group along in a positive way! You can actually see it as a talent, that 'puller'. If you know how to use that well, you can turn the situation around. When he wasn't allowed to go to group 8 camp at school, he went with us for the first time as an assistant leader. Now he's in the second year and he still goes along enthusiastically. Great!”

Like Riley, there are many children at 2Samen who are given special opportunities through 'talent-oriented work'.

Actually, you can see it as a talent, that 'go-along'. If you know how to use that well, you can turn the situation around.

Real profit is not about money
Sustainable reporting in childcare

The many requirements of new CSRD legislation are causing unrest in many organizations, but 2Samen has been taking up the challenge itself since 2024. We will report on sustainability and social impact. This is not mandatory for a foundation like 2Samen. Nevertheless, we find it extremely important. For us, real profit is not about money, but about equal starting opportunities, optimal development and social return. It is not without reason that we are social childcare. At 2Samen, we take sustainability very seriously. We therefore feel a great responsibility towards our most important customer: the children. Their world is our world and we cherish it.

In discussions with the parent committees, customer council, works council, educational partners, sustainability advisors and the children we have determined our ambitions. We want to make sustainability measurable and show customers how we deal with people and the environment.

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive is a guideline that states that more and more companies will be obliged to report on their impact on people and the climate from 2024.

Forerunner in the childcare sector
If organisations report in the same way, we create real transparency and comparability when it comes to sustainable choices made by organisations. 2Samen invested over a year to make sustainable efforts measurable according to the CSRD guidelines. In order to make it easier (faster and cheaper) for other childcare organisations to go through a similar process, we have collaborated on an approach in the childcare sector at the initiative of the Childcare Guarantee Fund. Several childcare organisations were involved in this. The result is a usable model for childcare organisations. In this way, we not only contribute to sustainability within 2Samen, but in the entire sector.

For employees

Learning and developing

The annual study day is intended for appreciation and development. A fun day full of connection, where employees deepen their knowledge and skills. On the occasion of our 80th anniversary, the day took the form of a Grote Generatieshow, an interactive theatre performance.

Number of colleagues

In 2024, we welcomed no fewer than 198 new colleagues.

Recruitment

To strengthen our recruitment campaigns, we developed the new website werkenbij2samen.nl. This makes it easier for us to attract new employees.

Movement base

In 2024, dozens of employees trained in guiding with MovementBasicIn the fall, we started working with the same group on “Risk-Vol Bewegen”. MovementBasic offers training in a holistic approach to guide children towards a sustainable and active lifestyle.

For parents

Limited rate increase
As a non-profit foundation, we consciously choose to keep the rates low. We want to make childcare accessible to as many children as possible in The Hague and Westland. Of course, our quality remains our highest priority.

A rate increase was necessary because the collective labor agreement for childcare stipulates that the wages of our employees (in 2023/2024) would increase by an average of approximately 12%.

Our rate increase was lower than the increase in childcare allowance. Many parents therefore saw a net gain in childcare in 2024.

Customer council involved
We find it very important to seek advice from our customers, including on rate changes and changes in our offer. We therefore always give the Customer Council the opportunity to advise on important changes. For example, the Customer Council gave a positive advice on our rates in 2024.

New website
With our new website we are completely up to date again! And the information for (new) customers is completely up to date again!

For the neighborhood

Childcare for every child with NPO subsidy

2Samen wants to make childcare accessible to every child. With a subsidy from the National Education Program (NPO), free childcare for 10 children in Mariahoeve became a reality.

They get this chance for various reasons, such as their language level, social emotional development or home situation. In the brand new building of Kindcentrum Diamant they go to primary school and now also the BSO.

Language+ school

Together with @rocmondriaan we responded to the wish of the municipality of The Hague to start free Dutch language lessons with free childcare (from 0 to 2,5 years). This appears to be a bull's eye for equal opportunities.

With the Language+school we work towards the same goal: every child learns Dutch as young as possible. This promotes development, reduces the step to primary school and reduces low literacy.

Collective Child Development

Since 2024, Kinderopvang 2Samen and Dak kindercentra have formed the Collectief Kindontwikkeling (Child Development Collective). By working together and within the neighbourhood, we can achieve much more for equal (development) opportunities for children. As social childcare organisations, we find this very important.

Neighbourhood approach
With our neighborhood approach we want to reach all children for a promising start in every neighborhood, inside and outside our locations. That is why we want to get to know the entire neighborhood.

To achieve this, a district approach process manager started working in 2024, who strengthened many contacts, for example with key figures in the district and organizations around the child.

Collaboration education
Education and childcare are working together more and more intensively, with the shared ambition to offer children the best development. This is increasingly happening in integrated child centres (IKC's). Municipalities are also happy to see this! In practice, this also presents challenges. For example in the area of maintenance, regulations and finances. That is why De Haagse Scholen, Lucas Onderwijs and Kinderopvang 2Samen organised a joint session at our location 2Zeerovers to share experiences and ideas about housing integrated child centres. We are pleased with the large turnout and the broad representation from the municipality of The Hague, childcare organisations and school boards.

In the Escamp district in The Hague, Suzette and Kevin set a good example when it comes to cooperation. They work with heart and soul on a future in which every child has equal opportunities. Suzette Bentvelzen, Unit Manager at 2Samen, and Kevin in 't Veld, Director at the PC Hooftschool, make an extra effort at school and in childcare to promote a healthy lifestyle and support children growing up in poverty. They support children and parents in various ways. For example, with the jointly applied for subsidy "School & Environment". They consider the cooperation between education and childcare to be self-evident. Kevin: "Together you can do more than alone. We see that here every day!"

In figures

Financially healthy
The results of 2024 show that our organization is doing well. We are a non-profit foundation and strive to reinvest our return. In the quality of our care and the development opportunities of children within and outside our organization.
