Ordinary and yet a little different
Starting January 1, 2026, we will continue the work of Sylvana Uittenbogaard and her team at Road2School under the banner of 2Samen. After 10 years, Sylvana will be stepping down as an independent contractor. She wants to do even more for children in the region; 2Samen is better at doing so than on her own. As social childcare organizations, our visions align: equal opportunities and optimal development opportunities for every child. 100 children with and without special needs at the Van Swindenstraat and Kootwijkstraat locations receive appropriate care at their level and pace. The same childcare staff will remain the familiar face of the group, alongside Sylvana as Unit Manager for both locations.
Optimal development of what the child is capable of
With the dream "Every child has the right to develop to their full potential," Sylvana founded Road2School. As a youth care worker and later a teacher, she saw that children sometimes fall outside the regular childcare and school system; they can't always keep up and are therefore forced to stay home. This is detrimental to both the child and the parent(s). She established a daycare center in the Regentessekwartier district and one in Rustenburg and Oostbroek, each with a vertical group (ages 0-4), a toddler group (ages 2-5), and an after-school care group (ages 4-13). At Van Swindenstraat, toddlers receive preschool education (VE).
At Road2School, we place slightly different emphasis on our working methods than at other 2Samen locations.
Simple and yet a little different
Daniëlle Vooijs, regional director of 2Samen: "We are enthusiastic about our contribution to the development of these and future children and their parents. I'm also happy for them that Sylvana and her team will remain connected to the locations; they are familiar to both child and parent. The idea that every child is unique is already in our DNA. But we emphasize slightly different approaches here than at other 2Samen locations."
Not only are children with and without additional care needs in the same group, but the talents and challenges in their young lives take center stage and we view differences in aptitude and pace as a matter of course. Furthermore, thanks to fewer children and more pedagogical professionals per group, we are more attentive to providing the right kind of care. We are more flexible with childcare hours, as many of these children cannot manage a full day of care. And we respond even more to the child’s spontaneous activity and interests. This allows them to develop in a relaxed and playful manner and discover the world in their own creative way. That is why this childcare is ordinary, yet a little different.
